Sixty Years of Property Excellence

Graham + Sibbald continue to look forward as the Firm celebrates its 60th Anniversary. In February 1959, Sandy Graham, formerly of the District Valuer’s Department, went into partnership with Greig Sibbald, principal of John G. Sibbald & Son Property Agents, to establish what was then the only solely Valuation based practice in Dundee.

In 1964, Graham + Sibbald expanded their client reach, opening offices in Kirkcaldy, Stirling and Glasgow. The firm continued to grow over the years, and now boasts a total complement of 14 offices across Scotland to meet the needs and requirements of all clients, both large and small.

The property world may have changed significantly since Graham + Sibbald first set up an office in Dundee, but what hasn’t changed is their belief in the quality and independence of the advice they provide, on top of their investment and trust in their people – the best advice from the best people, with invaluable local knowledge, and the support of a national network of experts for every aspect of every project.

Les McAndrew, Senior Partner at Graham + Sibbald, said: “Although we pride ourselves in trading as a traditional Partnership, we also take pride in replicating the best governance from the corporate world, allowing us to stay nimble on our feet to adapt to the demands of today’s fast-moving world.”

“We have also moved South of the border, opening an office in Manchester, continuing to move in an onwards and upwards direction and to satisfy our clients needs.”

“I am delighted that the firm has grown and succeeded throughout the last sixty years and look forward to seeing what the future brings. With the Brexit cloud over our heads, the new norm does appear to be uncertainty, but where there is uncertainty there is also opportunity. We will need to stay nimble on our feet.”

Graham + Sibbald celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 2009 by breaking ground for the planting of 500 trees in Teaghlach Wood, Perthshire in partnership with Trees4Scotland. Promoting sustainability and a green initiative, the firm have continued their dedication to the environment with the implementation of an Environmental Policy and company wide recycling contracts. Graham + Sibbald have also produced branded reusable coffee mugs for both staff and clients, encouraging them to reduce plastic and landfill waste, while enjoying the convenience of a sealable travel mug.

Graham + Sibbald has also invested heavily in the Surveying youth of today, running a very popular and attractive Apprenticeship and Graduate scheme which recently received an Investors in Young People Silver Award.

Les McAndrew, commented: “I am confident Messrs Graham + Sibbald, if still alive today, would be pleased, and I hope proud of the modern-day equivalent of their firm, which they started as a two-man band 60 years ago.”
