12 Easterhill Street, Glasgow

Graham + Sibbald was appointed to support project architect due to combined Planning + Agency expertise for a client that was seeking planning permission for the redevelopment of a disused public house to 26 residential units.

The supporting statement was prepared by both G+S teams. It assessed the market requirements for business/industrial units in this area and the economic land supply to demonstrate that the loss of this land would not impact on supply. This statement also included an assessment of housing land supply to demonstrate a need for residential units at this location. It also contained a planning policy assessment and set out planning material considerations to support the proposal.

The application was refused and G+S were subsequently appointed directly by the landowner to act as their agent to appeal this decision. We prepared a statement of appeal and attended the local review body committee meeting where the Councillors were satisfied that the property was next in employment use. They agreed that the site was suitable for residential development and would not impact on the employment land supply.
