Modern Apprenticeship Success

Graham + Sibbald Chartered Surveyors and Property Consultants are delighted to announce that two of their Edinburgh based Administrative Assistants’ have now completed their Modern Apprenticeship’s with qualifications in Business and Administration at an SVQ Level 3.

Heather Kynoch and Eilidh Turner both joined the business in early 2021 and have worked hard to complete their Apprenticeships through RTL while managing daily workloads and ever changing business requirements.

Heather initially worked across a variety of teams before settling with the Commercial and Building Surveying teams.  She supports a number of Surveyors and Senior staff members, assisting with the general running of the office from answering incoming telephone calls, creating property instruction files, issuing property details and dealing with enquiries, digital dictation and much more. Heather enjoys the variety that her role offers each day.

She commented, “A Modern Apprenticeship (MA) is a great place to start for a school leaver that may not be as confident in their typing or communication skills. I enjoyed training towards my MA as it really helped me to perfect the skills I had already learned while I was at school. I now look forward to receiving my certificate and continuing to enhance my role within Graham + Sibbald.”

Eilidh works within our Edinburgh Residential team and helps around the office assisting with the day to day running of the business. Eilidh enjoys her roles and responsibilities from typing and issuing home reports, arranging surveys and surveyor diaries, answering incoming enquiries, supporting Senior staff members and many other ad hoc tasks where required. She finds each day brings a new challenge and offers opportunity for improvement and building on her skillset.

She commented, “I’m happy to have completed my SVQ and to have a formal qualification under my belt. My team and colleagues have been really supportive and helpful in me reaching this milestone after only being with the business for nine months. I look forward to continuing to learn and enhance my skills within the residential team as I take on more responsibility within the busy team.”

Graham + Sibbald are committed to the recruitment, support, development and retention of young people within the business. They have been recognised for their efforts and received a Silver Investors in Young People (IIYP) accreditation in late 2018 with the business now working towards their Gold award status.

Les McAndrew, Senior Partner at Graham + Sibbald, said: “We have always been committed to providing staff with opportunities for growth and development at every stage of their career. We are delighted to have Heather and Eilidh with us and I look forward to seeing how they progress.”
