Graham + Sibbald helps Apex Hotels sell iconic Customs House building

Scottish chartered surveyor and property specialist Graham + Sibbald are delighted to have sold Customs House in Dundee, working on behalf of Apex Hotels.

The Customs House building, which is located in a prominent position on the corner of Dock Street and West Victoria Dock Road and adjacent to the Apex Hotel, has been sold to a property developer.

Customs House is a prominent 3 storey Grade ‘A’ listed late Georgian mansion house which extends to around 28,000 square feet.  The building was mostly recently office accommodation but now provides the opportunity for conversion to residential property.

Graham + Sibbald Commercial Associate Grant Robertson commented, “G+S were delighted to be instructed to sell such an iconic building on behalf of Apex Hotels. It was a fantastic opportunity to purchase such a prominent building within Dundee’s exciting waterfront redevelopment.  After a short marketing period, and an extremely high level of interest, a closing date was set and we’re pleased to announce that the sale has now completed.

Angela Vickers Chief Executive Officer, Apex Hotels Limited said, “  We are pleased to have found a buyer committed to the retention, development and restoration of one of the city’s most historic and much-loved buildings. We continue to focus on developing Apex City Quay Hotel and Spa, which has seen £3.4 million invested over the past two years, with a £2.4 million full bedroom refurbishment and, more recently, a £1 million programme of works to refurbish public areas, restaurant and spa.”
