Graduate Surveyor Success

Graham + Sibbald are delighted to announce the recent success of Steven Dalrymple who has obtained a BSc (Hons) in Real Estate Management from University College of Estate Management (UCEM).

Steven joined Graham + Sibbald in 2015 as a Student Surveyor, one of the first candidates to undertake the Firms School Leaver Programme now known as the Graduate Apprenticeship Programme.

The programme allows for students to learn while they earn, attaining a degree after 4 years. Steven was able to work full time and put in to practice the modules that he was studying in real-life scenarios while being supported by his fellow colleagues and mentor. This method of on-the-job learning enables students to obtain skills that cannot be learned in a classroom environment.

Steven commented: “I’ve always had an interest in property but I wasn’t sure if University was the right choice for me. I was keen to get a job where I could gain experience, build on my skillset and earn my own money – the School Leaver Programme offered by Graham + Sibbald was the best of both worlds! Since starting out in the Firm’s Kirkcaldy office in 2015, I have gained valuable experience and worked with many dedicated and knowledgeable Surveyors across Dundee and Perth offices, all whom have encouraged and supported me in my studies over the last five years. I’m delighted to have graduated and I’m really looking forward to this next step in my career with Graham + Sibbald.”

Next steps for Steven will be for him to continue his studies towards obtaining his APC to become a fully qualified Chartered Surveyor. Graham + Sibbald have a number of RICS trained APC Assessors in-house who are able to support and guide all our Graduates through their APC.

Graham + Sibbald are committed to the recruitment, support, development and retention of young people within the business. They have been recognised for their efforts and received a Silver Investors in Young People (IIYP) accreditation in late 2018.
