Graduate Apprenticeship Success

After welcoming their first Graduate Apprentice, Eve Mitchell, to their Glasgow Building Surveying department in 2018, Graham + Sibbald are thrilled to now announce her formal Graduation from Edinburgh Napier University.

Eve was the first Graduate Apprentice that the firm took on following the introduction of their GA Programme, which offers an alternative route towards a career in Surveying. Whether you are a School leaver or looking for a career change, a Graduate Apprenticeship with Graham + Sibbald offers the training, experience and support you need.

Working in Partnership with Edinburgh Napier University, the four-year Graduate Apprenticeship BSc (Hons) Construction and the Built Environment (Building Surveying) course has grown considerably and consists of distance learning via an online platform paired with set block release periods three times per annum.

Rhona Smith, Employer Liaison & Student Recruitment Manager at Napier, said: “Graduate Apprenticeships are a fantastic way for employees to gain practical experience and academic knowledge, whilst gaining an internationally recognised qualification through combining work-based learning and university attendance. Graham + Sibbald are one of our largest supporters of the course with students in every year group. It’s been a great success and we’re delighted to see Eve amongst our first cohort of Graduates from the GA course.”

David Ross, Partner at Graham + Sibbald, said “Eve has been a great addition to our Building Surveying department over the last four years. Her enthusiasm and willingness to learn is fantastic to see, alongside her helpful and positive attitude. We now look forward to seeing her take on new challenges as a Graduate Surveyor.”

Graham + Sibbald are committed to the recruitment, support, development and retention of young people within the business. They have been recognised for their efforts and received a Silver Investors in Young People (IIYP) accreditation.

Eve Mitchell, Graduate Apprentice at Graham + Sibbald, said: “I can’t believe how quickly the last four years have gone! I still remember how excited I was to be starting my Graduate Apprenticeship journey with G+S, being the first one, and now I’m about to become a Graduate Surveyor. Being able to work while studying allows the best of both worlds and I would highly recommend the Graduate Apprenticeship Programme. I’m really looking forward to seeing what’s next for me in my career.”

Graham + Sibbald open recruitment for the GA Programme annually from January to April. For more details regarding careers at Graham + Sibbald, please visit https://www.g-s.co.uk/careers/ or email Careers@g-s.co.uk.
