Douglas Arms Hotel Sold out of Liquidation

DOUGLAS ARMS HOTEL, 22 HIGH STREET, BANCHORY, ABERDEENSHIRE, AB31 5SR – SOLD OUT OF LIQUIDATION

UK property firm Graham + Sibbald are delighted to announce the sale of the Douglas Arms Hotel, Banchory, Aberdeenshire.

The Douglas Arms Hotel has a prominent main street location on Banchory’s High Street. The hotel can attract many passers-by on the main A93 Aberdeen to Balmoral and Braemar Road, and it has enjoyed the patronage from locals, visiting fishermen, tourists, and golfers, as well as a range of commercial custom. The Douglas Arms Hotel has 8 Letting Bedrooms with quality Lounge Bar/Bistro and Café Bar. The hotel also has an attractive outdoor balcony Terrace and the former Lounge Bar/Restaurant, suitable for additional development. Included is a spacious 4-room private flat.

Graham + Sibbald acted on behalf of Michael J M Reid, Liquidator of S J Inns Ltd. SJ Inns Ltd had owned and operated the Douglas Arms Hotel for appx. 16 years. The Business was placed into voluntary liquidation in March 2023, when it then ceased trading, it has been closed for business for most of 2023.

The new owners are RBD Bars Limited, who also own and operate the Burnett Arms Hotel in Banchory. The Banchory Arms will be a very useful addition to their already well established business in Banchory.

Alistair Letham, a Hotel & Leisure Consultant with Graham + Sibbald, commented, “The closure of the business, earlier in the year, was a combination of unfortunate circumstances including difficult trading in the Covid period, increased staffing costs and the rise of energy costs. After a period of full open marketing for sale the buyer was secured at a competitive bidding process. The Douglas Arms was a great little, local, business that also serviced the many visitors to Royal Deeside. The property and business will be a great add-on for new owner Munish Dheer, admirably complimenting his existing business at the Burnett Arms.”.

The purchase price was not disclosed but Graham + Sibbald were inviting “Offers around £395,000” for the Douglas Arms Hotel, Banchory.
