Chartered Surveyors Introduce Eleven New Partners Following Latest Promotions

Graham + Sibbald, UK Chartered Surveyors and Property Consultants, have announced the promotion of Chris Hunter, Ross Wilson, Gavin Miller, Stephen Craig, Mark Gillies, Scott Morrison, Chris Ion, Derek Richardson, Kyle Hargreaves, Martin Davis and Hugh Anderson to Partner level.

These promotions come as part of the firms strategic business growth strategy which has seen them go from strength to strength in recent years, opening five offices in 2022 alone and boasting a total complement of almost 300 staff members working across the UK from London to Inverness.

Chris Hunter graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2009 with an Honours degree in Property. From there, he joined a firm of Chartered Surveyors where he qualified in 2011. Chris has over ten years’ experience within the Edinburgh and Stirling residential markets. On a daily basis he carries out Home Reports, Energy Performance Certificates and valuations for lenders, private clients and developers. Born and bred in Edinburgh, he has an extensive knowledge of the residential property market and enjoys working closely and building relationships with solicitors, estate agents, private individuals, banks and more.

Ross Wilson is based within the Commercial Agency department of Graham + Sibbald’s Edinburgh office. With a degree in Real Estate Management from Heriot Watt University, Ross boasts 18 years’ experience covering all basis of commercial and residential development and investment property transactions. Having initially joined Graham + Sibbald in 2003, Ross went on to work as a Commercial Agency Partner at a competitor firm and more recently as a Development Manager where he gained valuable client-side experience working on both sides of the fence.

Gavin Miller is a Chartered Surveyor working primarily within Stirling though he is responsible for both the Stirling and Falkirk Graham + Sibbald offices. Gavin studied Property at Aberdeen University and joined Graham + Sibbald in 2012. From there he was promoted to Associate in 2015 to Director in 2020 and now Partner in 2023. Gavin specialises in residential valuations and carries out surveys on a daily basis for the purposes of Home Reports, Mortgage Valuations, Energy Performance Certificates and more. He carries out valuations across Stirling and the surrounding area for a wide range of clients including solicitors, estate agents and private clients.

Stephen Craig is Graham + Sibbald’s Head of Commercial Valuation in the UK, based in Glasgow. He provides commercial valuation and advisory services to a wide range of clients aided by the full in-house property service offered by Graham + Sibbald. His role involves focusing on the West of Scotland Team, being primarily based in the Glasgow office, and also chairing the firm’s Commercial Valuation Committee which oversees our National Valuation Team throughout the UK.

Mark Gillies boasts a vast range of experience having worked across Edinburgh, Aberdeen and now Glasgow. His unique knowledge of Scotland’s three biggest markets and breadth of clients accumulated over the past decade with Graham + Sibbald has been enhanced in Glasgow where he heads the Corporate and Private Client Agency team. Mark oversees all areas of agency and is the resident Glasgow expert in Restructuring, having been seconded into the RBS Restructuring team during his time in Edinburgh. His coverage and knowledge gained has not only developed a wide range of clients but has established Mark as the go to agent in Glasgow for all your property needs.

Scott Morrison has over 17 years’ experience in the commercial property sector, having worked for many public and private clients over the years adding value to clients’ portfolios with proactive Asset and Property Management. Graduating from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2006, Scott gained his BSc (Hons) in Property Management and Valuation and then went on to complete his APC and become a Chartered Surveyor in 2008. Scott has a wealth of knowledge and experience across a number of sectors including Asset Management, Valuation, Agency and Investment, providing clients with a truly holistic approach to the management of their portfolio.

With a master’s degree in Property and Management from the University of Aberdeen and over 15 years’ experience in commercial property, Chris Ion joined Graham + Sibbald’s Aberdeen Office in 2021 as a Director of Agency. Prior to that, Chris was Partner at a rival firm where he worked across the agency and capital market teams. Chris’ remit primarily involves disposals and acquisitions of commercial properties on behalf of a range of clients across Aberdeen and the surrounding local area, while aiding in the development and service offering of the Graham + Sibbald Commercial team across the UK.

Derek Richardson is an RICS Registered Valuer and Chartered Surveyor within the Graham + Sibbald Aberdeen office, with over 10 years’ post qualification experience within the commercial real estate sector. He specialises in providing commercial valuation advice for acquisition and secured lending purposes as well as valuations of specialist property portfolios for financial statements. Derek also liaises with various lenders, assisting them with professional advice on estate within their existing loan book.

Kyle Hargreaves is a Building Surveyor within the Graham + Sibbald Manchester office. He studied Building Surveying at The University of Salford and graduated in 2017 with First Class Honours. Prior to his degree he also achieved a Distinction in his Higher National Certificate (HNC) at Stockport College in Construction and the Built Environment. Kyle started working with Graham + Sibbald in March 2019, following eight years with one of the world’s largest building protection manufacturers, where he served as Technical Services Manager. Kyle has over 13 years’ experience in the construction industry and boasts a strong technical background, particularly in the disciplines of roofing and structural waterproofing.

With more than 35 years’ experience of working in the transactional property market, primarily in the hotel and licensed leisure sectors, Martin Davis has worked with many of the industry’s leading hotel owners and operators. Martin is one of the most prominent hotel agency brokers in the North of England where he provides strategic disposal and acquisition advice to a broad range of clients. Martin joined Graham + Sibbald in October 2021 and is based in the firms Manchester office where he is helping to lead the presence of the firm’s hotel and leisure sector services across England.

Hugh Anderson brings over 25 years’ experience working both nationally and internationally, primarily in the provision of the sale and acquisition of hotels. He brings widespread experience in all aspects of the hotel sector, including brokerage, development advice, hotel deal structures, agency and valuation advice, with extensive knowledge of key brands and UK markets. He joined Graham + Sibbald’s Manchester office in October 2021, leading the presence of Hotel + Leisure services across England.
