Chartered Surveyors Grow Valuation Team With Key Hires

UK Chartered Surveyors and Property Consultants Graham + Sibbald have welcomed three new strategic hires. Alan McGregor, Mary Leitch and Syd Davison have all joined the firms growing West of Scotland Commercial Valuation team.

This news comes following the recent hire of Philip Costa, Director, who has joined the Commercial Valuation team based in the London office.

Alan McGregor joins Graham + Sibbald as an Associate, covering all aspects of Commercial Valuation on behalf of a wide range of clients across Scotland. With a BSc (Hons) degree in Land Economics from Paisley University, Alan began his career in Dundee working for Dundee City Council within their Estates team before moving to Glasgow where he has spent the last 16 years working for DM Hall Chartered Surveyors.

Looking to take on a new opportunity, Alan commented,

“I completed a placement with Graham + Sibbald back when I was at University and have viewed their growth journey from afar over the years; it’s great to be a part of this now! The G+S team are ambitious and forward-thinking which has led them to their recent expansion across the UK which creates excellent opportunity for both staff members and clients. I look forward to working with the team and wider G+S moving forward on a variety of projects.”

Mary Leitch, a Senior Surveyor within Graham + Sibbald, initially undertook an HND in Construction Management at Glasgow Metropolitan College before completing a BSc (Hons) in Property Management and Valuation at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Having started out her career at the Lanarkshire Valuation Joint Board as a Valuation Surveyor, Mary brings a broad range of expertise to the role. Her most recent position as Commercial Surveyor at DM Hall saw her regularly undertaking RICS Red Book Valuations for a variety of clients and purposes, as well as aiding in the training and development of Student and Graduate Surveyors. Mary commented,

“This is an exciting time to be joining Graham + Sibbald as the Valuation team have welcomed a number of new staff members to keep up with client demand across Glasgow and the surrounding area. There are some unique and interesting projects coming soon that I’m looking forward to working on while getting to know some of the other G+S teams across the UK.”

The Graham + Sibbald team have also welcomed Syd Davison as a Consultant. Having worked as a Principal Valuer within the Valuation Office which he joined in 1986, Syd brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the commercial valuation team which will benefit both clients and colleagues.

Specifically focussing on compulsory purchase work, Syd has worked on some high-profile projects across Scotland for clients such as Clyde Gateway, Glasgow City Council, Transport Scotland and North and South Lanarkshire Councils. His expertise stems to the provision of budget estimates, reporting on costs for financial planning purposes as well as negotiating compensation packages. Syd commented,

“I’m pleased to be joining Graham + Sibbald as a Consultant, offering advice and specialist expertise on all aspects of compulsory purchase and commercial valuation to aid the team in their current expansion. There is lots going on at present and it’s a great opportunity to be working with a company that are at the forefront of an ever-changing property market.”

Graham + Sibbald now has around 250 employees and 23 Partners working across its 21 UK offices in Scotland and England, where they are continuing to expand their offering of services and locations.
