APC Candidates Pass

Graham + Sibbald are delighted to announce our four newly qualified Chartered Surveyors; Iain Stewart (Aberdeen), Sorcha Johnstone (Kilmarnock), Michael Anderson (Stirling) and Jonny Frew (Glasgow), who all successfully passed their Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) in June 2018.

This represents a one hundred percent success rate for Graham + Sibbald, of which we pride ourselves in achieving annually. Our aim is that all of staff are qualified to the highest level possible, and so, our APC candidates are supported and mentored by key staff members who have received training through the RICS to become qualified APC Assessors.

Iain Stewart is a Residential Surveyor, based in our Aberdeen office. Iain started with the Firm in June 2015. He has been praised for his work ethic and determination to provide the highest quality service to all clients, across the Aberdeenshire area. These skills transferred well to his studying and preparation to sit his APC and we are delighted with the result.

Iain commented: “Upon starting my employment with Graham + Sibbald I was provided with extensive training and support which allowed me to further my knowledge and develop my skillset. The APC process is a stressful one, although I was given every opportunity to work across various different departments within G+S to allow me to gain the necessary experience. The guidance and support received from various staff members across different offices was instrumental in allowing me to achieve a pass. I am extremely happy to have passed and look forward to progressing my career within the Firm.”

Sorcha Johnstone is a Commercial Surveyor, based in our Kilmarnock office. She started with Graham + Sibbald in January 2014 and has been a dedicated and hard-working member of the team since the beginning. Sorcha has assisted in attending countless careers events, in addition to her daily workload, and played a lead role in our Graduate Programme which was launched in early 2017, promoting the business and the benefits we can offer graduates.

Sorcha said: “I have really enjoyed my time at Graham + Sibbald so far and I received training in a number of departments in order to allow me to progress through my APC. G+S provide you with study leave prior to sitting your APC and this proved to be very helpful. I am ecstatic to have passed and now progress my careers with Graham + Sibbald.”

In Stirling, Michael Anderson is one of our Residential Surveyors. He started with the Firm in November 2015 and enjoys the diversity of his workload on a day-to-day basis. Michael is an important link in the Graham + Sibbald chain, assisting Partners and Associates across Stirling and Falkirk offices whenever required. His attention to detail and timely production of reports has been recognised and sets a high standard for this next step in his career.

Michael commented: “I’ve really enjoyed my time working towards becoming a qualified Chartered Surveyor with Graham + Sibbald. While the few months leading up to my final assessment were stressful, the support I received from colleagues across various offices was key to my success. I’m excited to see what my future holds with Graham + Sibbald and I’m delighted to be working in such a busy and diverse office in Stirling.”

Jonny Frew, based in our Glasgow office, is a Building Surveyor. Jonny started with Graham + Sibbald in September 2017 after joining us from another Surveying Practice. His hard working nature, self-initiative and problem solving skills ensure his ability to provide clients with reliable and sound property advice. Some of Jonny’s clients include Embrace Care, Caledonian MacBrayne. Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) and the Co Operative.

Jonny said: “The team at Graham + Sibbald, particularly the Building Surveying team, were so supportive of me while I was studying for my APC. Their guidance and knowledge was instrumental to me passing – I couldn’t have done it without them.”

Calum Campbell, Graham + Sibbald Managing Partner, commented: “The Firm are committed to providing training and offering career development for all staff members. We are pleased that these four Surveyors have gained their Chartered status and look forward to seeing them take this next step in their careers with Graham + Sibbald.”
