APC Candidates Pass

Graham + Sibbald are delighted to announce our two newly qualified Chartered Surveyors; Joe Helps (Edinburgh) and Matthew McLeod (Dundee/Aberdeen), who have both successfully passed their Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) in the first half of 2020.

This represents a continued 100% success rate for Graham + Sibbald, of which we pride ourselves in achieving annually. Our aim is to have all staff qualified to the highest level possible, and so, our APC candidates are supported and mentored by key staff members who have received training through the RICS to become qualified APC Assessors.

Joe Helps is a Commercial Agent, based in our Edinburgh office, who joined Graham + Sibbald in 2016 having previously worked in the motor industry for 5 years. He specialises in the Commercial Property Sector and prides himself on providing clients with high quality service and advice on investments, acquisitions, disposals and lease renewals. Since joining G+S Joe has built strong trusted relationships with a diverse mix of clients and continues to do so through his enthusiasm and passion for the commercial property sector.

Joe commented: “After a tough 3.5 years juggling full-time work and study, I was delighted to achieve a First Class Honours from University College of Estate Management at the end of last year and now 6 months down the line I am fully chartered! I will be eternally grateful to Graham + Sibbald for taking a risk on me despite having no real qualifications to my name and enrolling me on their Modern Apprenticeship Programme back in 2016. A big thank you must also go to all of my colleagues whose support throughout my studies has been second to none.

Matthew McLeod is a Building Surveyor, who splits his time between our Aberdeen and Dundee offices. He studied Building Surveying BSc (Hons) at Robert Gordon University. During his third year at University he joined Graham + Sibbald as a Student Surveyor in our Edinburgh office to gain experience from shadowing senior colleagues. After Graduating, he joined Graham + Sibbald as a Graduate Building Surveyor in June 2017. He undertakes a variety of surveys including Defect Analysis Surveys, Schedule of Conditions, Dilapidations, Building Surveys and more.

Matthew said: “I am hugely thankful for the support I’ve received from my colleagues throughout the APC process as it really has made all the difference to my success. It is certainly not an easy road but I am delighted to have passed and look forward to progressing my career with Graham + Sibbald and taking on more responsibility.”

Calum Campbell, Graham + Sibbald Managing Partner, commented: “The Firm are committed to providing training and offering career development for all staff members. We are pleased that these Surveyors have gained their Chartered status and look forward to seeing them take this next step in their careers with Graham + Sibbald.”
