Graham + Sibbald sheds a light
Graham + Sibbald, Chartered Surveyors, have been instructed to carry out a fire insurance valuation of the Mull of Galloway's Lighthouse and the world's oldest surviving sea-washed lighthouse , the Bell Rock Lighthouse.
The Mull of Galloway's Lighthouse is constructed in 1828. It comprises an unmanned light house and functions now as 3 short term holiday lets, owned by the Northern Lighthouse Board and let by the Scottish Tourist Board.
It is located on the furthest point of the Mull of Galloway peninsula looking out toward the Irish sea and indeed over to Ireland with stunning scenes of lichen smothered cliffs and viewing nesting seabirds like black guillemots, puffins, fulmars and razorbills.
Graham + Sibbald have one further valuation to carry out on the Bell Rock Lighthouse in Arbroath. This white stone tower, dating from 1811, rises over 30m (100ft) high, without support out of the North Sea at eleven miles out to sea off the east coast of Scotland.
This lighthouse is popularly known as Stevenson's Lighthouse after the Architect Robert Stevenson, which was quite a challenge to construct. Nearly 200 years after it was first built, this amazing structure still stands.
