"Houses for Heroes"
Graham + Sibbald are pleased to have been appointed as Property Managers of the new development of four flats for disabled ex-Service personnel in Motherwell. The expanding Graham + Sibbald architectural department, has designed the building.
A formal ground breaking ceremony took place at the site in Motherwell just off Anderson Street. Provost Tom Curley in whose ward the development is situated, was guest of honour and dug out the first spadeful of soil together with the local secretary Mrs Mary Sweeney, watched by the Chairman of the Association Colonel Robert Watson, Gavin McClymont, representing Graham + Sibbald, and Stuart Ross, Director from the Building Contractor’s company Ross and Laidlaw and Sons ltd.
The local secretary Mrs Mary Sweeney said: “We are very thankful to the North Lanarkshire Council who has given the lease on this area of land, for four new wheel chair friendly flats. It has taken a while to see it all come together”.
The Association has launched an appeal for six million pounds to enable them to build 60 new affordable houses. The Association is busy looking for new sites for these properties. Further developments are taking place in Dundee, Scone (Perthshire) and Penicuik (Midlothian).
Gavin McClymont of Graham + Sibbald states: We are very proud to be connected to such an honourable development. We are confident that we will complete the project toward autumn this year.
