Renewable Energy Centre, Aberdeen

Aberdeen’s Renewable Energy Centre, Minto Commercial Park, Altens, Aberdeen has been leased to Brinker Technology for 10 years at a rental of £150,000pa.

This class-leading office and workshop building with an EPC rating of A and a BREEAM Rating of A, was let by Graham + Sibbald. The property was only on the market for two months before going under offer and achieved excellent terms.  The building has under floor heating in the workshop; wall heating/cooling in the office areas; ground and air source heat pumps; thermal and photo-voltaic panels on the roof; rainwater harvesters; and an intelligent automated ventilation system to make maximum use of natural air cooling and solar gain opportunities.  It was estimated that annual energy savings over a conventional building would be £3/sqft equivalent at today’s prices.

Simpson Buglass, Partner at the Aberdeen office said: “I consider that this 12,000sqft office, warehouse and yard unit achieved a rental of 10% above normal market levels due primarily to the building’s energy saving credentials and super-low future running costs.  If the property industry needs evidence of how commercial occupiers view energy efficient buildings, then this surely must be a very positive example.”
