Aberlour Child Care Trust - Inverness

Graham + Sibbald are delighted to have helped children’s charity Aberlour by sourcing three properties across the Highlands for use as children’s residential accommodation.

Kenny McKenzie, G+S Inverness (Agency), was involved in finding various properties and arranging viewings, while Neil Cromarty, G+S Inverness (Commercial), carried out valuations on the charity’s preferred options before bids were submitted.

Daniel McLean, G+S Glasgow (Planning), submitted planning applications to the Highland Council for a change of use at each of the three chosen properties. Two were guest houses (in Fort William and Tain) and one was a large residential property in Inverness. Daniel successfully secured the planning consent for the change of use of the properties to Class 8 (Residential Institutions).

Lucy Fraser, G+S Inverness (Building Surveying), was then involved in the inspection and refurbishment of the properties to comply with all relevant Building Warrant Regulations. Lucy personally oversaw all works and dealt with client requests as well as unforeseen works required, continually working to meet budget and deadlines.

The properties in Inverness and Fort William are now fully operational, and the Tain property is due to complete at the end of June 2017.

Aberlour’s Project Manager David Hotchkiss said “This has been a great example of the private sector supporting the third sector and public sector to deliver services that will make a significant difference to the lives of children and young people.”

It has been a pleasure to work with Aberlour throughout this project, and we look forward to assisting them with any future works.
