Hi Everyone,

Thought I would update you with some exciting results from the recent European Championships. It had to be the most unusual Europeans I have ever attended. Firstly the event was hosted in the French Caribbean territory of Guadeloupe, this means tropical (40’+) heat mixed with the tail end of hurricane season. Secondly the track was unusual in three respects, it was: outdoor, longer and concrete. However I was able to come away with a great result in the 1km Time Trail winning the event by 8/10ths of a second and becoming elite European Champion! An added bonus of this is that I automatically qualify to ride the World Championships in Paris next year so something very exciting to look forward to. After this result the coaches advised me to look after my self as much as possible as more opportunities would be coming my way. In a squad as competitive as ours this is great news.

Right now I’m writing this from Guadalajara, Mexico and looking forward to competing in the 1st World Cup of the season, this is the opportunity the coaches were hinting at. World Cups are an international qualifier series for the World Championships and the Rio Olympics so besides Worlds they are the most important events of the season. Selection is still to be confirmed for most events but as it stands I should be riding the team event with Olympic Champions Jason Kenny and Philp Hindes. This is an opportunity I have been eyeing for years so I can’t want to get out there and show the coaches what I can do. The event begins Friday the 7th of November and continues over the weekend.

I’ll be sure to update you with the results soon.

Thanks for your continued support, Callum Skinner.
