The Planning Team acts for clients in both the private and public sectors to enhance and protect their assets and landholdings. We work with our Chartered Surveyor colleagues in our network of offices across the UK to provide the complete property service and asset management.

Our Planning Team comprises Chartered Planners, Surveyors and Associate Members of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment.

We can provide advice to client on all aspects of planning policy, project management, strategic planning and asset planning.We can also advise on the feasibility and viability of proposals as well as design requirements.Our team has particular expertise in retail, residential, renewables, public sector consultancy, rural consultancy and EU funded transnational projects.

We have extensive experience in large scale mixes use schemes and regeneration proposals.We can also provide technical assessments in support of planning applications including Environmental Impact Assessments and Socio-Economic Assessments.

Case Studies

Fettykil Mill, Leslie, Fife


Graham + Sibbald was appointed by KPMG to obtain planning permission in principle for a residential development at Leslie, Fife.
The development comprised 220 residential units and office accommodation at a 22.5 ha site.
Graham + Sibbald project managed this instruction, the architectural and technical inputs.

Graham + Sibbald prepared the planning application and supporting Planning Statement.

SNH and SEPA initially objected to the proposal. We successfully negotiated with these statutory consultees and they both withdrew their objections.
Planning Permission was granted for this proposal at appeal.

Longstone Bus Depot, Edinburgh


Graham + Sibbald was instructed by Lothian Buses to obtain detailed planning consent for the redevelopment of their Longstone Depot.

The proposal was for partial demolition of the existing depot building, a new engineering workshop, relocation of staff car park, temporary fuelling and washing bays.

Graham + Sibbald was responsible for project managing and submitting this application. We also instructed the technical supporting assessments.

As part of this application we had to negotiate with SportScotland in relation to the loss of a bowling green. We also negotiated developer contributions with City of Edinburgh Council.
